THE FIRST CLASS IN THE ARKANSAS Sports Hall of Fame, in 1959, had five members. Through the next several years, that was the usual induction class.
"We still have people around who think that's what we should put in, five," said Ray Tucker, the Hall of Fame's executive director. In the 1960s and '70s, classes ranged from as few as three to as many as six. 1980 saw an induction group of a then-record seven, not equaled until 1998. The classes beginning with 2002's have numbered in the double-digits, such as this year's all-time high number of 12.
