Many fund-raising professionals mistakenly interchange the concepts of fund-raising and public relations. Although both concepts contribute the success of fund-raising programs, they are separate concepts which complement each other. Fund-raising involves the communication of information to prospective donors and the subsequent collection of such donations. Public relations serves as a reinforcement for fund-raising since it bombards prospective donors with information on worthwhile programs.
