The American Assn. of Blood Banks (AABB) issued its new Quality Program in the summer of 1994 to help members meet the strict standards imposed by the Food and Drug Admn. (FDA) and successfully pass inspections. The Quality Program provides blood banks with a special framework outlining the various blood banking operational systems and the good manufacturing practices set by the FDA. The framework serves as an effective tool for devising individual quality programs and tracking documents.
