Actions are being taken in Washington to revise some legislations affecting food safety. The Delaney Clause enacted in 1958, which prohibits the inclusion of cancerous substances in food, has been found to be outdated by current technological and toxicological standards. The FDA's review of new food ingredients has been a lengthy and slow process. A third-party review is being proposed to improve the review.
