CAIRO, Egypt, Feb. 12, 2008 (IPS/GIN) -- Top-level Iranian officials have made several visits to Egypt recently, leading many to believe that Cairo may be close to restoring diplomatic ties with Tehran, despite U.S. objections to such a development.
In recent months, Washington has tried hard to convince Arab leaders of the threat to the Middle East posed by Iranian regional ambitions, but these efforts appear to have been futile.
