STURBRIDGE - A former Worcester police officer has traded her gun for a paintbrush.

Cheryl Economos served as a police officer for 22 years, retiring from the Worcester force in 2001.

She now pursues what's been a lifelong interest in painting, creating works of art on a broad spectrum of subjects.

Mrs. Economos grew up in the Greendale area of Worcester, graduated from Burncoat High School and now lives in Sturbridge. Over the weekend, she had her "coming out" party as an artist.
