The Maui County Health Department investigated a report of possible gastrointestinal illness and found the likely source, a bundle of seaweed, had likely been served to 13 other people at a picnic. The seaweed had apparently been prepared properly, and no known source of the infection has been discovered. Seaweed poisoning symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and a burning sensation in the mouth or throat.
