LUNENBURG - Fifty years ago, Lent and Easter meant fasting, fish on Wednesday and Fridays and on Easter Sunday, ham dinners and getting dressed up for church.

Seniors shared their memories at a Mardi Gras luncheon held at the Lunenburg Eagle House Senior Center this past week.

"In the old days it (the day before Lent started) was called Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday," said Olive W. Coburn.
