"Plants do everything that people do, but they do it quieter, slower and with greater dignity." This is a quote that I find delightful and true.

It is one example of drawing comparisons between humans and the vegetable kingdom. Most analogies are not quite so wry, but do contain an element of anthropomorphism as a means to better understand plant development by comparing it to stages of human growth.
