On Feb. 7, 1950, Nick Didio proposed marriage to Vivian Ferguson over pancakes and sausage served up by Knights of Columbus Council 418 for Shrove Tuesday.

"I wasn't sure what she'd say, but I thought I had a good chance," said Nick Didio, 92, adding that the proposal had been impromptu.

She said "yes."

Fifty-eight years, four children, 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren later, the Didios revisited the past last Tuesday, dining again at the Knights' Shrove Tuesday pancake supper.
