Native people die younger than other Canadians. In a morbid way, that's the good news. The reason is that living conditions for many of Canada's First Nations are so dreadful that an early death might seem like a happy release. And, that's an attitude that bedevils many young aboriginals; the future seems so bleak and hopeless that suicide becomes an attractive option.
