THE massed choir of hippos is in fine voice. Each hymn starts in thesame way, with a singular grunt that sounds some way between a belch and aclearing of the throat. Then there's a noise as if someone's revving up an oldmotorbike. Soon enough it's a free-for-all and the rabble is reminiscent ofchuckling old Tory grandees in the House of Lords.
