SAN JOSE, Calif. _ Up and down the Northern California coast, hordes of inquisitive humans are loving the state's tide pools to death.

From Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove to Patrick's Point State Park in Humboldt County, scientists say coastal marine life appears to be dying as humans trample, poke at and in some cases, pocket treasures of the seas _ from snails to sea stars to spiny sea urchins.
