THE Cork county board have claimed that the striking players were on the verge of accepting Teddy Holland as their manager until talks broke down over the removal of his four selectors.

In an wide-ranging 968-word statement yesterday, the board hinted that Holland is no longer the stumbling block in this exhausting saga.

It claims it was only when the player representatives insisted they wanted the selectors removed that the fragile peace deal cracked.
