Accessories companies have found department stores to be among their best sales venues despite many retailers' problems and industry consolidation in 1995. The multi-brand strategies of most manufacturers are suited to department store sales, as the customer can see the range of products on the shelves. Department stores are always eager to negotiate special exclusivity deals with manufacturers, allowing them niches which differ from other retailers.
