SARATOGA SPRINGS - He was supposed to become chairman of the Skidmore College board of trustees in May. Instead, Skidmore trustee John J.P. Howley has resigned from the board after pleading guilty to failing to file his income tax return.
"I deeply regret that an issue in my personal life has become an issue for the board," Howley said in a statement released by Skidmore. "Under the circumstances, I believe it is in the best interests of the college for me to resign my position as trustee."
