End of the line for Northumbria 101 service.

A NON-EMERGENCY phone line for Northumbria has been scrapped following the withdrawal of Home Office funding.

Northumbria 101 was launched in 2006 to deal with non-urgent incidents such as anti-social behaviour and was designed to reduce pressure on police operators.

The line, which aimed to cut the number of unnecessary 999 emergency calls, will continue at least until March 31 before an end date is set.
