A RECENT trip to a grand 19th century French country house has reignited my love for all things old.

Walking round the massive baroque styled rooms, it is difficult not to be inspired by the beautiful scrolling leaves and over the top bold designs.

The Baroque period lasted from 1600 to 1750 and originally the word baroque meant an uneven pearl.

Now, it means style that is bold, complex, flamboyant and elaborately ornamented.
