British Embassy staff on strike

MORE than 40 employees at the British Embassy in Dublin are to strike today in a row over threatened jobs cuts.

The workers, who are members of the trade union Unite, will place an official picket at the entrance to the embassy on Merrion Road in Ballsbridge, Dublin, after diplomatic efforts to resolve the dispute broke down.

There will also be a picket outside the British ambassador David Reddaway's house.
