A MUSEUM is facing closure because of cutbacks hitting a North Wales council.

The Gwynedd Museum and Art Gallery at Bangor is owned by Bangor University but run by Gwynedd Council.

But with council officers having to find more than pounds 1m in cuts over the next three years, they have told staff they cannot support the museum financially.

But supporters of the museum believe the financial support is worth only pounds 60,000 a year and substantial savings could be made elsewhere.
