FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a man trapped in a toilet cubicle in Whitby.

Peter Draper was visiting the town with his wife Margaret when they stopped by the Quarter Deck Cafe for a drink on Tuesday.

Mr Draper, of Bridlington, popped outside to use the nearest disabled toilet which is located just outside the cafe at Khyber Pass at around 2pm.

"When I tried to get out, the lock wouldn't open," he said.
