The US Sheep Experiment Station along the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail was established to develop high-quality food and fiber via genetic research and range management. The range, which is operated by the US Agricultural Research Service and supported by the University of Idaho, simulates range sheep operations in the country. The research effort also focuses on natural resources management for sustained used.
