Legal bid to stop Peak District quarrying.

PEAK District bosses are taking legal action to stop quarrying at a local beauty spot in the latest shot in a long-running dispute.

The Peak District National Park Authority is taking action against the owners and operators of Backdale Quarry, near Bakewell, to stop what they say is unlawful quarrying.

A huge hole has been gouged in the side of the eastern end of Longstone Edge by the quarrying and national park chiefs are desperate to stop it getting any worse.
