Now solicitors can wiggy with it.
|
SOLICITORS who represent clients at crown court hearings now have the option to wear wigs.
The decision, made by Government, came into effect last Wednesday.
Up until now, only barristers and judges have worn wigs.
But, following a consultation between the Ministry of Justice and Lord Chief Justice, non-barrister advocates now have the chance to wear short wigs and gown while junior counsel will wear gowns with bands as well as the short wigs.
Advocates in magistrates' courts will still not have the option of wearing robes or wigs.
