Trantwood Elementary students are reacting with excitement over books, thanks to reading resource teacher Jan Roewer .

Her programs, Book Talk Boogie and The Book Bistro , have the children fired up over a necessary life skill.

"Kids sometimes don't get enough sustained reading," said Roewer. "I learned that if they learn reading strategies but don't have time to apply them, they don't really learn it."

The educational television show "Reading Rainbow" inspired her Book Talk Boogie.
