Raise the curtain. Start the show. The Centre City Redevelopment Corp.'s $26.5 million rehabilitation and restoration of Balboa Theatre is nearing completion. The structure, built in 1924, is expected to undergo final inspection by Dec. 31.

Inspired by Mediterranean, Moorish and Spanish Revival architecture, the five-story structure, plus basement and organ loft, was updated to current building codes during the past 19 months while maintaining the integrity of the historic space.
