Angling - Debris is a terrible advertisement for the sport.

Angling can get a bad name without trying too hard. The other day I was walking round a lake - not in this immediate area - and was horrified to see angler-based debris festooned around the trees surrounding the banks.

There was half a tackle shop up there. Floats, line, swimfeeders, Arlesey bombs, hooks - the lot. It looked for all the world like an angler's Christmas tree except that it was not pretty. In fact, it looked awful and was a terrible advertisement for our sport.

You do not have to look too far to realise why this sort of thing happens. Certainly, it does not ...
