When Brian Ruhe was 18, he was involved in a terrible car crash and lost both legs. He was in college at the time, studying to be an aerospace engineer. The accident didn't change his dreams of being an engineer--but it did change his path.
Ruhe learned to walk again on prosthetic (artificial) legs. Inspired by his experience, he switched his major to study biomedical engineering, a field devoted to researching and developing safe and helpful medical devices, including prostheses, the artificial arms and legs used by people with missing limbs.
