The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) has implemented a nationwide pest control program to aid commercial fruit growers. The program is part of the USDA's plan to place 75% of US acreage under integrated pest management by the year 2000. ARS pest control strategies include mating disruption, Bacillus thuringiensis sprays, and parasite and sterile male coding moth releases.
