Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) systems provide versatility in the manufacture of complex molds and dies. Common surfaces, multi-axis contouring, perishable tooling and critical surface finish can all be processed by advanced CAM system tools. Such tools allow the creation of a manufacturable model which can be easily edited to fit specifications. CAM programs also enable manufacturers to have greater control over entry and exit points in cutting to avoid chipping and shattering tools.
