Unsolved History: The Boston Massacre The History Channel, one-hour documentary, Erik Nelson, Executive Producer
On 5 March 1770 in Boston, Massachusetts, eight British soldiers opened fire on a crowd of Colonials who had gathered to protest their presence in Boston, killing five and wounding six. The event is significant because it helped incite the American Revolution. The dead were celebrated as the first martyrs of the Revolution. A black former slave named Crispus Attucks has gone down in history as the first to die for his country.
