As Labour's credibility tumbles with every fresh revelation in the party funding scandal, the last thing the Conservatives need is for any questions to be raised about their own finances.

But David Cameron, the Tory leader, must today explain why the Midlands Industrial Council waited three months to reveal the identity of a new member.
