An analysis of the French people's views about the US from the 1830s to the present is presented. In general, the French were awed by the rapid industrialization of the US as well as the influx of immigrants to the country. They criticized the US for its adherence to the concepts of multiculturalism and plurality. Such criticisms only reveal the French people's strong aversion to change, specifically cultural change.
