PATRON of the Great Fen Project (GFP) Sir John Major visited the site last week to see how it was progressing.
The aim of the scheme is to restore arable farmland to fenland to create a 3700-acre area linking the existing nature reserves at Holme Fen and Woodwalton Fen, near Peterborough.
It is one of the most ambitious conservation projects ever undertaken in the UK.
