Buckden Juniors U7 5 Ramsey Colts 3

Buckden faced a task of Herculean proportions after finding themselves outplayed and 3-0 down midway though the second period, after goals from Tony Wagstaff (2) and Charlie Jenkins. Despite the enormous efforts shown by Buckden skipper Christopher, Ben and Ashley, there was nothing that could stop a rampant Ramsey side playing downhill. However, with the slope in Buckden's favour, events soon changed. Laurence struck a firm shot into the bottom right hand corner, followed by Josh's first of the day to make it 3-2. In the final period Buckden had the belief and team spirit to come back, with Joseph splitting the Ramsey defence to see Josh score the equaliser. Josh then completed his hat-trick and with seconds left Joe B ensured Buckden's victory by slipping the ball past the advancing Ramsey keeper. The final score was an appropriate reward for the tactical genius of Buckden's manager, Bill Furmedge, and all the boy's efforts on the day. Ramsey squad: Charlie Jenkins, Callum Pauline, Tyler Mason, Tony Wagstaff, Ryan Pratt, Leo Medhurst, Andrew Cooke.

Blunty crashed to a defeat despite being 4-1 up at one stage. They took the lead when Fred Jones finished off a fine passing move. Blasters created several more chances with Jack Horrocks hitting the post, but it was Rovers who equalised just before half time with Oliver Langford finishing off a move which went the length of the pitch. Almost instantly from the restart Harry Taylor regained Blasters lead and then a minute afterwards he scored the goal of the game, beating four players before squeezing the ball in from a tight angle. After the restart Blasters scored another, with Taylor claiming his hat-trick. However, a determined Goddy side, bolstered by fresh legs, launched wave after wave of attacks on the Blasters' defence. Rangers rallied but Dan Davis failed to connect with a cross across the box and Michael King saw his effort blocked by the Rowdies keeper. Rangers were three down before the break. In the second half, Davis hit a shot for Rangers that curled in front of goal, but Scott was unable to connect. Rowdies coped with the pressure and broke away to find number four before Rangers got a goal back when Bradley Smith twisted through the defence and made space for a shot on target. However, Rowdies counter-attacked and scored twice more.

Early in the second half Jamie Bottomley released Ben Gibbins and his powerful shot nestled in the corner of the net. Soon after, Bradley Winfield lashed in number four after a lovely flick by Ben Gibbins, and number five came from a powerful shot by Jamie Bottomley, which was pushed into the path of Jake Trainell to poach.
