"As an Owambo woman, I grew up in an environment which stigmatised and discriminated against people with a different sexual orientation," says Martha Amupolo, a human rights activist who has never shied away from putting herself on the line for others. "I was told it is against nature to be gay or lesbian. People even said it was satanic. Hearing these things, I naturally developed negative opinions about lesbian and gay people, even though I had never met any," admits Martha.
