A fifty pound tax hike in Market Deeping is proposed for next year to improve the "neglected" council-owned John Eve and Glebe fields.

Town councillors agreed to submit a council tax precept of [pounds sterling]230,820 for 2008/09, a 70 per cent increase on this year's budget of [pounds sterling]134,710, at a meeting on Wednesday.
