Sir Winston Churchill's role in the historical events leading to the Balfour Declaration and Palestine Mandate, which set aside a portion of Palestine as a 'national home for the Jewish people,' are discussed. Churchill, whose first essay at Harrow looked at Palestine during Roman times, demonstrated zealousness in defending 'his country's freedom' and that of the Jews when he denounced the MacDonald White Paper that mandated a stop to Jewish settlement of Israel after five years.
