George Reinhart turned what started as a woodworking hobby into a development process.
Armed with a portable sawmill and 35 years of experience with the U.S. Forest Service, part of that working as a timber cruiser, he buys a 2- to 5-acre wooded lot, selectively harvests some of the trees, adds utilities, builds a small cabin and then resells the property--at a profit. The turnaround can take five years and longer, but it's a process he thoroughly enjoys.
