In recent years there has been renewed interest in the life of John Watson and the beginning of classical behaviorism evidenced by two full-length biographies (Cohen, 1979 and Buckley, 1989). For the most part, however, Watson and behaviorism have suffered from a long period of neglect. Gustav Bergmann regarded Watson as one of the most important psychologists of this century, second only to Freud.
