EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
THE 100 largest private companies headquartered in Los Angeles County reported an aggregate $80.9 billion in 2006 revenue, up $3.6 billion over the previous year.
Platinum Equity held the top spot, followed closely by Westlake Village-based MDFC Holding Co., which is David Murdock's entity for ownership of Dole Food Co. and Castle & Cooke Inc. Specialty food and beverage retailer Trader Joe's Co. Inc., investment management firm Capital Group Cos. and general contractor and homebuilder J.F. Shea Co. Inc. round out the top five.
