Football: Meddling with the Champions League appears misguided.(Sports)

AS BETTORS, we should probably welcome attempts by leading figures in the game to lower standards in the Premier League and Champions League. As football fans, we should not. In these debates, I have to say, I find myself feeling more of a football fan than a bettor.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter wants to reduce standards in the Premier League by forcing clubs to replace foreign players with lower-quality English players. It would almost certainly be illegal under EU law, as Blatter himself almost certainly knows.
