IT was intended to celebrate the best of British.
But the sign above the newlyopened John Masefield pub had exactly the oppositeeffect.
Locals didn't recognise the picture of the former poet laureate - instead theythought he was Hitler.
Before long, the pub, part of the JD Wetherspoon chain, had been nicknamed TheAdolf.
Manager Seanie Walsh, 55, said: 'It's the only thing people are talking aboutwhen they come in.
'We must admit that the sign does look exactly like Hitler - but it didn'toccur to us until after we had put it up. ' ...
