The 'Haralds saga haroraoa' describes King Haraldr's desire to improve his strained relations with the chieftain Einarr. Ironically, the result is the brutal killing of Einarr and his son. Details of this incident are described in a passage of the 'Morkinskinna' version. Five other versions of the saga tackled are the 'Heimskringla', 'Fagrskinna', 'Hulda', 'Hrokkinskinna', and the 'Flateyjarbok'. The murder episode is omitted in the first two versions but is mentioned in the latter three.
