The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is performing at a 10-year low. The problem is lack of turnover. During the week of Dec 4, 1994, turnover was only $161.3 million. There are few market makers on the exchange, the only active traders being major shareholders who buy cheap and then wait for the market to pick up. Over 50% of the companies listed on the exchange have suffered losses compared to the same period in 1993.
