Compared to its North African neighbouts, Morocco's energy balance is an unenviable one. With proven resources of just 2 million barrels of oil and 43,000 million cubic feet of gas, the kingdom is by far the largest hydrocarbons importer in the region. Despite several international companies carrying out exploration, no significant discoveries have been made.
