Shirley's past looms large.

When Shirley Yates left Horrockses Mill at the age of 21, she thought she would never see the miniature loom she operated again.

But thanks to the Evening Post, she has been reunited with the machine after more than 50 years.

The miniature loom was owned by the manufacturing giants and was taken to department stores and trade fairs all over Britain to demonstrate how fabric was produced and promote the company.

Historians knew of its existence, but were unsure of its fate until it was found by fabric firm Dorma at its Manchester offices earlier this year.
