Conscientious objection to military service is most commonly based on one of two principles. The first, absolute pacifism, holds that it is always wrong to wage war. The practical implication of this view is general conscientious objection to participation in all wars. The second principle, the just-war theory, holds that at least some wars are morally wrong.
