Lewes discus thrower Jake Scanlon swept aside his painful memories of last year's All England Schools championships with a brilliant silver medal in this year's championships at Birmingham.

Having finished fourth in the Intermediate (Under 17) boys discus event in 2005 Jake was strongly tipped for a medal at least last year but it did not work out like that. Jakes buckled under the pressure and did not even match his throw of the previous year.
