Bury St Edmunds Association Croquet Team travelled for their final league match of the season against Ipswich in Christchurch Park.
The Bury quartet were involved in a hard-fought battle with a sudden-death play-off and a narrow result, by one point on time.
In the morning, the Bury doubles team of John (handicap 5) and Edme Robinette (14) beat Jill Waters (5) and Angela Ballam (24), 23-19 in a match where the lead changed several times.
